Property Development Website Design: From First Visit to Enquiry

Make residence comparisons, floor plans and viewing requests useful before asking a prospective buyer to begin a sales conversation.

A photograph can make a development appealing. It cannot tell a buyer how two apartments differ, how much of an advertised area is outdoors or whether the plan suits the way they live.

In our property development website, we gave those questions their own pages. The collection supports comparison, the residence page supports closer inspection and the viewing request follows that investigation.

Let people inspect a residence before asking for their details

We kept the floor plan public, with a download available before an enquiry. This gives the visitor a chance to determine whether a home is relevant before starting a sales conversation.

Gating every useful detail may produce more form submissions, but it also means the team has less assurance that the person has understood the property. The appropriate decision depends on the sales process. In this design, we chose to make the information useful first and let the enquiry carry a more considered interest.

Make the comparison use the same vocabulary

The collection presents four residences using the same order for price, rooms, parking and area. That consistency matters more than adding another comparison widget. A buyer can scan differences without learning a new information layout for every home.

Residence 203 shows why area labels need care. Its sample record has 154 square metres of internal space and a 26-square-metre terrace, totalling 180 square metres. We repeat that split in the collection schedule and the residence detail.

PROJECT DETAIL

Let the buyer inspect the residence

Residential property website: Let the buyer inspect the residence.
The floor plan and specification describe the same home, with internal space and terrace area distinguished in the residence record. See the residential property website project.

A total of 180 square metres alone would conceal how much is outside. The breakdown lets a buyer compare like with like without estimating the terrace from the drawing. These are authored residence figures, not measurements of a surveyed property.

Give the plan and the specification different jobs

The drawing explains rooms and circulation. The text records bedroom, bathroom, parking and area information. Neither should have to carry the whole explanation.

Keep the residence identifier visible in both. If someone downloads the plan or returns through a saved link, they should still know which home they are considering. Use a readable enlarged view on mobile rather than treating the plan as a decorative thumbnail.

W3C's complex-image guidance supports providing text alongside information-rich images. For a property page, that means useful residence information near the plan, not an enormous alternative-text field trying to describe every line.

IN PRACTICE

Compare the residence

  1. 01DiscoverExplain the place and residence choices.
  2. 02CompareKeep plans and specifications consistently labelled.
  3. 03EnquireCarry the selected residence into the request.
The useful path is from comparable residence information to a particular home and then to a considered viewing request.

Let a viewing request reflect the visitor's situation

The request offers an in-person visit, video introduction or phone conversation. The visitor can name a residence or choose to discuss the wider collection. This avoids forcing someone to claim a settled preference before they have one.

Dates and times are preferences. Selecting them does not reserve an appointment. The wording makes the next step a discussion and confirmation by the team, rather than a booking the interface cannot establish.

Our enquiry handoff guide explains how that context should reach the receiving team. If someone chose Residence 203, the record should retain that choice instead of making them type it again.

Plan for information to change

A residence page is only as dependable as its maintenance process. Agree who owns availability, pricing and specification updates, and what happens to saved links when a residence changes status.

Later choices, such as the materials in our finish selection studio, may need a separate experience. Do not overload the initial comparison with every possible specification decision unless it affects which residence the buyer is choosing.

PROJECT DETAIL

Ask how the person would like to visit

Residential property website: Ask how the person would like to visit.
Residence interest, visit format and preferred timing are separate choices. The form prepares a request for confirmation. See the residential property website project.

For a replacement site, our redesign checklist covers URL mapping and enquiry checks. Through web engineering, we connect that release work to the information buyers use. A useful review begins with two comparable residences and asks whether someone can explain their differences before contacting the sales team.

Sources and calculation notes

Residence 203 uses authored areas of 154 square metres internally and 26 square metres of terrace: 154 + 26 = 180 square metres. These figures are repeated in the project record and do not describe a surveyed property.
