Unified Inventory Across 4 Sales Channels Eliminating Overselling
Building a centralised inventory and order management system unifying a lifestyle brand selling across their website, Amazon, wholesale and two physical stores.
What We Were Solving
The brand sold through their own Shopify store, Amazon, a wholesale channel serving 80 stockists, and two physical retail locations. Inventory was tracked separately in each channel using different systems. Overselling affected an average of 120 orders per month, requiring manual refunds and replacement sourcing. Stock counts were reconciled weekly in a spreadsheet, but by the time reconciliation was complete the data was already stale. The operations team of three was entirely consumed by inventory management, leaving no capacity for growth initiatives. Peak season was described by the founder as barely controlled chaos.
Our Strategic Approach
We built a centralised inventory hub that serves as the single source of truth across all four channels. Real-time stock updates propagate to Shopify, Amazon and the wholesale portal within seconds of any sale, return or stock receipt. The wholesale portal allows stockists to place orders against live inventory with automated order confirmation and dispatch notifications. Physical store sales sync through a lightweight POS integration. Reorder triggers alert the buying team when stock reaches configurable thresholds. A unified order dashboard gives the team a cross-channel view for the first time.
