What We Were Solving
The client operated five private clinics managing patient records across spreadsheets, an outdated Visual Basic application, and a shared network drive. Data was not encrypted at rest, there was no audit trail for record access, and the system had failed its preliminary NHS Digital assessment. Staff spent 22 minutes per patient appointment on administrative data entry. The regulatory clock was ticking with six months to demonstrate compliance or face penalties and loss of NHS referral partnerships worth 1.2M GBP annually.

We designed a centralised patient data platform with encryption at rest and in transit, comprehensive audit logging, and role-based access control mapped to NHS Digital requirements. Patient record retrieval went from multiple system lookups to a single sub-second query. An automated migration tool transferred 340,000 records from legacy systems with full integrity verification. The platform included a custom admin interface for clinic managers and an API layer for future NHS Spine integration.
